ARTIST STATEMENT

For this project, my very first idea I had once I heard the prompt was to tell the wonderfully messy tale of being a new cat owner, as it was a recent development at the time. There is a lot of factors that you don't plan for or expect when getting a cat: What kind of breed is right for me? Does my apartment allow cats? Can I afford taking care of another living being? Stuff like that really gets to be overwhelming, which I tried to convey in my final product. Visually, I took inspiration from the early days of the internet and how a lot of that culture involved cats, memes, and an overall overstimulating and silly energy. So, my final pages have a lot going on and a very funny vibe. I tried not to take myself to seriously and just have a good time and let the work speak for itself. I also feel like I got my message across unintentionally as I'm just a beginner with Photoshop and Illustrator and not familiar at all with all that its capable of.
